I travelled with Laza for 17 days through Madagascar and got far more than a driver and guide. He created a completely personalised itinerary, knew the country inside out, and was exceptional at spotting wildlife. When things didn’t go to plan, he always found a way to make it work. I arrived with a guide and left with a friend, and I wouldn’t choose anyone else for my next trip to Madagascar.

Lazan accompanied us on our 22-day trip to Madagascar, traveling from Morondava to Bekopaka, then to the Baobabs, the Vezo coast, and on to Isalo and Ranomafana. Everything was beautiful, but what made the trip truly special was our guide, Lazan. Always thoughtful, precise, and attentive, he is an expert guide with excellent English. Moreover, he constantly brought and shared an incredible enthusiasm, passion, and love for the wildlife, birds, and baobabs at every moment of the journey. You can always ask a guide for experience, precision, and dedication, but when the work is driven by pure passion, it rises to a whole new level. During our trip, in addition to the standard stops, he took us off the beaten path several times to explore authentic spots that incredibly enriched our experience. From the very first day, he was incredibly reliable, punctual, professional, and attentive. He was always on time, well prepared, and we never had to worry about anything.

His driving was excellent — safe, calm, confident, and perfectly adapted to the roads and conditions in Madagascar. At all times, we felt completely safe and comfortable, which made a huge difference during our journey.

What impressed us most, however, was how genuinely focused he was on us and on what we wanted from our trip. He took the time to understand our preferences, interests, and pace, and he was always thinking about how to make our experience better. Whether it was adjusting plans, suggesting an excursion, or helping us discover something we might otherwise have missed, he was incredibly thoughtful.

He was also excellent at organising excursions and activities, making everything easy and stress-free. His English is very good, so communication was always smooth, and he was able to explain things clearly while also sharing his knowledge of Madagascar.

As a person, he is discreet but very friendly, empathetic, and genuinely caring. He knows when to give you space and when to engage, and his warmth made us feel comfortable from the beginning.

By the end of our trip, he was much more than a guide and driver — he had become a friend. We are extremely grateful for everything he did to make our time in Madagascar so enjoyable, safe, and memorable.

We could not recommend him highly enough. If you are planning a trip to Madagascar, having him as your guide and driver would be a wonderful choice. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Laza is not just a super guide and a smart driver, he is also a friendly travel companion. This is a big trip, so good company matters the most. The scenes in Madagascar are spectacular either way. He really listened to what we hoped to see and took us inland to visit local villages, meet people, discover Malagasy culture, and enjoy the country’s nature. He was flexible, thoughtful, and always attentive to our safety. He is incredibly kind and goes above and beyond to make sure his guests have a great experience.

Laza speaks excellent English and knows so much about Madagascar. He’s also smart, funny, and curious about the wider world, so our conversations were a highlight of the trip. For us searching for a guide for Madagascar was much more challenging than in other countries: Either you find no reviews at all, or the prices are very high. We picked Laza based on gut feeling (and because i was able to find his instagram handle) out of over 100 offers I received from a Facebook group post. Incredible how lucky we got with that decision.

Laza is THE nicest person on this planet, incredibly friendly and helpful. He speaks absolutely perfect and (for us Germans) easy-to-understand English. He explained so much to us about Madagascar and its people. He was always there for us, took care of everything, showed us around, got us any food we wanted to try, but also gave us plenty of freedom whenever we wanted it. The car was cleaned by him every single morning. He reacted within a minute on every single whatsapp message i wrote him. He literally was there for us 24/7.

His connections were also absolutely perfect: our guide Sam in Andasibe (who he usually works with there) for example was incredibly good — felt like the most competent of all the guides. We were almost always alone with the animals before the other guides arrived with their guests. So we were extremely happy here as well.

Near the end of our trip we got sick. And even though we had already been traveling on our own for a while by then, he didn't hesitate for a second, drove an hour to us unprompted, and came with us to the hospital.

I honestly can't put into words how happy we were with Laza. I can recommend him without a single doubt to absolutely anyone. If you're looking for a guide in Madagascar: 100/10 recommendation.

Laza is an exceptional driver, an outstanding wildlife spotter, and a walking encyclopedia of Madagascar. He knows the country incredibly well, never made me feel unsafe despite some very long and difficult drives, and was always patient and flexible.

What really made the difference was how personalised the entire trip was. The itinerary he created was completely different from anything other agents had offered me. He understood that I was travelling primarily for wildlife and photography, and constantly adapted to what I wanted. He would spot wildlife himself while driving, adjust the speed, and patiently wait whenever I wanted to photograph something.

When I lost a day because of a delayed flight in Nairobi, and later lost another day because of illness, he simply reorganised everything without making it a problem. He even took care of me when I was sick, arranged special food, and also hosted me at his own place when we were in Tana.

By the end of the trip, Laza was no longer just my guide—he was a friend. If I return to Madagascar, I wouldn't even consider travelling with anyone else. Highly recommended.
